Depression

Depression does an amazing job of keeping us stuck. It can zap our motivation and energy, and cause us to shut out the people who love us. Depression is a debilitating mental health condition, but it can offer us valuable information about what we care about. Consider it your body sending a message that something is broken in your life, and it will keep sending that message until we pay attention and make some changes.

Common Challenges

  • Persistent sadness and hopelessness: chronic low mood, loss of interest

  • Physical Symptoms: fatigue, sleep issues, appetite changes, physical aches and pains

  • Cognitive Difficulties: concentration issues, memory problems, negative thought patterns

  • Emotional Challenges: irritability and anger, anxiety, emotional numbness

  • Behavioural Issues: social withdrawal, decreased productivity, substance use

  • Impact on Daily Life: work and school performance, relationship strain, reduced quality of life

Our Work Together

The constant exposure to high-stakes situations and the need to remain composed under pressure can take a toll on our sense of resiliency and detract from our quality of life and relationships. My goal is to provide a safe, confidential, and understanding space where first responders can address the mental and emotional challenges that are facing them on the job and in their personal lives.

In our work we might aim to:

  • Improve emotional regulation

  • Address relational concerns

  • Process traumatic experiences

  • Build on your existing resilience
